- Book private transport or a taxi from Borjomi town, as there is no direct public transport to the resort.
- Use Gantiadi as a single base for day trips to Borjomi, Bakuriani, Vardzia, Abastumani and the Green Monastery rather than switching hotels.
- Confirm spa and sauna costs directly with the hotel, as these are offered at extra charge beyond the standard package.
As autumn settles into Samtskhe-Javakheti, the forested hills around Borjomi take on the quiet, clear-aired character the region is known for. Gantiadi Mountain Resort, positioned between the villages of Tsemi and Tba at roughly 1,230 metres, sits within this landscape as one of Georgia’s mid-mountain climatic resorts — a category of property built around the area’s crystal air, low radiation and mild climate, long said to benefit the immune and respiratory systems.
In November, with the summer crowds gone and the first mountain chill setting in, this kind of setting has particular appeal. The hotel operates as a 4-star property with breakfast and full board available, a bar-lounge, indoor and outdoor entertainment, and a sauna and spa offered at extra cost. Standard Triple rooms make it a practical option for families travelling with children, while the layout and shared facilities also suit couples or larger groups looking for a self-contained base rather than a town-centre hotel.
Why it works as a November base

Borjomi town itself, with its mineral water park and springs, lies within easy reach, as does the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park — one of the largest protected forest areas in the Caucasus and a draw for walkers even outside peak hiking season. The resort’s location between Tsemi and Tba keeps it away from the town’s traffic while still placing guests close enough to treat Borjomi as a short excursion rather than a long transfer.
What makes Gantiadi particularly useful for a Samtskhe-Javakheti itinerary is its position relative to the region’s wider attractions. Bakuriani, Vardzia’s cave monastery complex, the spa town of Abastumani, and the Green Monastery are all cited as being between 30 minutes and two hours’ drive away, meaning the resort can serve as a single overnight base for several days of day-tripping rather than requiring guests to change hotels as they move around the region.
From Tbilisi, the resort is roughly a two-hour drive, making it feasible as a weekend escape as well as a stop on a longer Samtskhe-Javakheti circuit. There is no public transport running directly to the property, so a private vehicle or taxi from Borjomi town is the practical way to arrive — worth factoring into travel plans, particularly if arriving after dark during the shorter November days.
For travellers prioritising nature over nightlife, and comfort over central location, Gantiadi offers a straightforward proposition: a forested mountain setting, full-board hotel services, and a base from which most of Samtskhe-Javakheti’s key sites are a manageable drive away.
