Guria, the small region of rolling hills and tea plantations between the Lesser Caucasus and the Black Sea, is less known for wine than Kakheti, but it has its own tradition built around the Chkhaveri grape. Scattered cellars around Ozurgeti and Lanchkhuti keep this tradition alive, often as small family operations tucked into village lanes or hillside plots rather than large commercial estates.
This list was compiled by the desk from the national register of licensed wine businesses operating in Guria. Entries were selected on location within the region, an established presence at a fixed address, and what each place offers a visitor arriving to taste or buy wine. No payment was accepted for inclusion, and no ratings are claimed; the list simply gathers what is on record for travellers planning a route through the area.
1. Zurab Topuridze Winery
Located in Sakvavistke, in Chokhatauri Municipality, this cellar is open for visits by appointment. Guests are received on Saturdays and Sundays, making it a straightforward stop for travellers who plan their weekend around the Gurian wine roads.
2. Guest House ,,Niko mamasakhlisi"
Found in Shotiko’s district, this address combines accommodation with wine in Guria. It is listed in the national tourism register and suits visitors who want a place to stay alongside a tasting stop.
3. kakhetian wine cellar
Set on ST.GREGORY street N119 in Grigoleti, Lanchkhuti district, this cellar operates by the sea as part of the Kakhetian Wine Cellar Hotel. It is a fitting option for travellers combining a coastal stay near Lanchkhuti with a wine stop.
4. Kobidzeebis Marani
This family wine cellar in Kvemo Erketi is run by Davit and Tariel Kobidze and sits in the villa area of western Georgia’s Gurian countryside. It offers a small-scale, family-run alternative for visitors exploring villages away from the main towns.
5. Lekura Wines
Based in the village of Natanebi, in the Lekura area, this winery allows visitors to taste and purchase wines from Western Georgia. It suits travellers interested in sampling regional styles beyond Chkhaveri alone.
6. Menabde Winery
Located in the village of Shemokmedi, Menabde Winery is listed in the national tourism register as a wine producer in Guria. Its village setting makes it a convenient addition to a day touring the hills near Ozurgeti.
7. Sio Marani
Sio Marani is found in Gomi village and appears in the national tourism register as a wine producer in the region. It offers travellers another small, rural stop on a Gurian wine itinerary.
How to use this list
Travellers should treat this as a starting point rather than a fixed itinerary: several of these cellars, including Zurab Topuridze Winery, operate by appointment or on specific days, so contacting ahead is advisable. Pairing a visit to Ozurgeti with stops in nearby villages such as Shemokmedi, Gomi, Natanebi, or Kvemo Erketi allows for a half-day or full-day route through Guria’s wine country, while the cellar in Grigoleti suits those extending their trip toward the coast near Lanchkhuti.
