Racha-Lechkhumi is the quiet, mountainous corner of western Georgia best known for the Khvanchkara wine region and the long, forested drive up the Rioni valley. The two main towns, Oni and Ambrolauri, sit at either end of this valley and act as the practical bases for anyone exploring the Caucasus foothills, Nikortsminda, or the road toward Shovi and the high passes. Smaller villages such as Glola, Khvanchkara, Zogishi and Krikhi hold a scattering of family-run places that put visitors close to vineyards, rivers and trailheads rather than in a town centre.
This list was compiled by the GTour desk from the national register of licensed accommodation in Georgia. Selection was based on location within Racha, an established presence in the register, and what each property offers a traveller in practical terms — room type, setting, or proximity to a town. No property paid for inclusion, and no ratings or rankings are implied by the order below.
1. Eco village in Glola
Set at the end of the village of Glola, this property offers two 27.5 sq.m rooms configured as 3+1 and two 25 sq.m rooms configured as 2+1, all furnished with the equipment needed for a stay. The room sizes and layouts make it a workable option for small families or groups travelling together in the Rioni valley area.
2. Khvamli 2002
Located at Tamar Mefis 24, this was the first private hotel established in the town of Tsageri. It is run with extensive experience in hosting guests passing through the Lechkhumi side of the region.
3. Kipiani House & Winery
Kipiani House & Winery sits in Ambrolauri municipality, in the village of Khvanchkara, the area that gives its name to the well-known semi-sweet red wine. The property is described around the coziness of its setting, making it suited to visitors who want to be based directly among the vineyards.
4. Racha Roots Boutique House
Found on a dead-end off Agmashenebeli street in the heart of Ambrolauri, this is a family home built up over generations and now opened to guests. It suits travellers who want a residential, family-connected base in the town itself rather than on its outskirts.
5. Hotel Nouvelle
Hotel Nouvelle stands at 1 Vaja-Pshavela Street in the heart of Oni. It is presented as offering a refined and welcoming atmosphere, making it an option for visitors wanting a more formal hotel stay in the town centre.
6. Hotel Tsibena
Hotel Tsibena is located at 46 Rustaveli Street, just 150 metres from the city centre. The hotel offers comfortable, well-equipped rooms, suiting travellers who want central access on foot without staying directly on the main square.
7. Isiani Guest house
Isiani Guest house is located in the village of Zogishi, within Racha-Lechkhumi and Qvemo Svaneti. It is listed in the national tourism register and verified by GTour, making it a documented option for those exploring the smaller villages away from Oni and Ambrolauri.
8. Krikhi village
Krikhi Village is described as a premier tourist centre located in Ambrolauri municipality, in the village of Kvemo Krikhi. Its setting places guests within a dedicated village-style complex rather than a single standalone building, suited to those wanting a fuller village base in the Ambrolauri area.
How to use this list
Treat this list as a starting point for comparing locations within Racha rather than a ranking: decide first whether a base in Oni, Ambrolauri, or one of the surrounding villages such as Glola, Khvanchkara, Zogishi or Krikhi best fits the itinerary, then contact the property directly through the register listing to confirm availability, room configuration and current details before booking.
