“Japharidze Winery” was founded in 2018 by Irakli Japharidze, one of the youngest members of the Bolnisi Winemakers’ Association “Wine Bolnisi”.
Irakli represents the fourth generation of Japaridzes who voluntarily settled in Ekaterinenfeld (now Bolnisi) from Racha: Great-grandfather Valerian Japharidze, after the migration of Swabian colonists, settled in one of the German houses, which, according to the Swabian tradition of that time, also had a cellar. The Japaridzes’ cellar is now 170 years old, has fully preserved its original appearance and is an ideal environment for winemaking.
