Lost Ridge Inn, Brewery and Ranch — Hotel in Kakheti, Georgia

In short

Lost Ridge Inn, Brewery and Ranch is a small countryside hotel in the village of Qedeli, in the Sighnaghi municipality of Kakheti. The hotel describes itself as combining a boutique six-room inn, an on-site craft microbrewery, an outdoor fire kitchen, a terrace cafe and a horse ranch on a single rural property overlooking the Alazani Valley. It markets itself as the first establishment of its kind in Georgia, pairing lodging with brewing and horseback riding in one setting close to the historic town of Sighnaghi and Bodbe Monastery.

The building and its history

The hotel occupies a cluster of restored and purpose-built structures on a ridge above the Alazani Valley, in the small village of Qedeli. The site includes two restored local houses that the hotel calls the Archaeology Suite and the Piruza Cottage, alongside newer guest buildings, a brewery, a fire kitchen and ranch facilities. The hotel’s official materials do not give architects’ names, exact construction dates, or a formal opening year for the property, so the timeline below reflects only what is stated or can be reasonably inferred from the hotel’s own account of its development.

• Original rural houses in Qedeli predate the hotel; guest reviews describe the building now used as the Archaeology Suite as being more than 150 years old, a claim made by visitors rather than confirmed on the hotel’s own pages.
• The owners, described by the hotel as “travel designers and avid wanderers,” restored these local houses and added further guest accommodation, a microbrewery, an outdoor fire kitchen and a horse ranch to create a single combined property.
• The hotel states it is “the very first of its kind in Georgia,” combining boutique lodging, craft brewing and horseback riding, though no specific founding date is given on the website.

Rooms and suites

The hotel describes itself as a boutique six-room inn. According to the hotel, each guestroom is unique, combining artisanal ethnic styles with locally handcrafted wooden furniture. Every room has a private covered terrace, with views described as facing either the Greater Caucasus Mountains or the rolling hills of Magaro. Two of the accommodations are restored historic houses referred to by the hotel as the Archaeology Suite and the Piruza Cottage, set apart from the main inn building along the approach road. A stay includes breakfast and free Wi-Fi, as stated by the hotel; no further categorisation of room types, sizes or bedding configurations is given on the official site.

Restaurants, bars and venues

Craft Brewery — The hotel operates a three-barrel microbrewery on site, producing what it describes as a rotating selection of natural, farmhouse-style craft beers using its own well water, hops, grains, honey, spices and fruit grown in a nearby orchard. The beers are aged in an on-site “beer cave” and served on tap and in bottle.

Fire Kitchen — Described by the hotel as the brewery’s handcrafted culinary complement, the Fire Kitchen’s menu changes seasonally and draws on ingredients from private farms and small local producers in the Kakheti region, prepared using fire-cooking methods.

Horse Ranch — The hotel’s horse ranch offers guided rides through the surrounding hills and valleys, with routes said to pass pastoral vistas, the fortified town of Sighnaghi, the Alazani Valley, half-abandoned villages, small historic churches and Bodbe Monastery. The hotel states the horses are calm, trained Caucasian horses and that rides are accompanied by professional local guides suitable for all levels. The ranch is also linked by the hotel to the nearby Living Roots Ranch for rides toward the vineyards of Tibaani.

Terrace Cafe — The hotel’s own description lists a terrace cafe as part of the combined property, serving as an additional dining and relaxation space, referred to in visitor directions as the “ranch café,” on the approach road to the inn.

Wellness, pool and fitness

The hotel’s official site does not list a swimming pool, spa or fitness centre. Its stated wellness offering centres on outdoor relaxation and nature-based activity: a hammock in the garden described as large enough for two, a bonfire and lounger area, walking routes including a roughly two-kilometre route to Sighnaghi, and horseback riding from the on-site ranch. The hotel frames its appeal around slowing down, taking in valley views, and sitting by the fire rather than structured wellness facilities.

Meetings and events

The hotel describes itself as a venue for private events, stating it is suited to family and friend gatherings, birthdays, weddings, corporate retreats and team-building activities. No further detail on event capacity, dedicated event spaces or catering packages for groups is given on the official website.

Awards and memberships

No awards, star ratings, or industry memberships are stated on the hotel’s official website.

Prices and booking

The official website does not publish room rates, package prices, or a booking calendar on the pages reviewed; it provides contact details for reservations instead. Current rates and availability should be confirmed on the hotel’s official site or by contacting the hotel directly.

Location and getting there

Lost Ridge Inn, Brewery and Ranch is located at 8 Noneshvili Street, in the Qedeli settlement of the Sighnaghi municipality, Kakheti region, eastern Georgia. According to the hotel, it sits on a ridge above the Alazani Valley, close enough to walk to Sighnaghi — a historic walled hilltop town sometimes called the “City of Love,” originally fortified in the 18th century under King Erekle II — and to Bodbe Monastery, a medieval monastery associated with Saint Nino, the figure traditionally credited with bringing Christianity to Georgia. One guest review places the property around seven to ten minutes’ drive from Sighnaghi town.

The hotel’s own directions note that visitors coming from Tbilisi should pass through the outskirts of Sighnaghi (not its town centre) on the descending serpentine road, then turn right off the highway at a point marked by signs for Bodbiskhevi, Zemo Machkhaani, Lost Ridge, Qedeli community and Mtevani restaurant — roughly 600 metres before reaching the property itself. From there, an unpaved road leads downward past the horse ranch sign, a turning for the ranch café (for guests staying at the Archaeology Suite or Piruza Cottage), and finally a third left turn uphill to the main inn, identifiable by its red roof and wooden fence. The hotel notes that Google Maps can mistakenly route visitors via a longer road through Bodbe Monastery. No driving time from Tbilisi International Airport is stated on the official site; Sighnaghi is generally reached from Tbilisi via a scenic road through the Kakheti wine region.
