A two-day hike into Lagodekhi's reserve to Black Rock Lake on the Dagestan border, with a night in a ranger hut and no detour loop to slow you down.

How is this different from the 3-day Black Rock Lake trek?
The 3-day version adds a loop section and a second night, covering more ground at a gentler daily pace. This 2-day route goes up and back the same way, which means longer walking days but one less night in the mountains.
Can beginners do this trek?
It suits hikers with some multi-day trekking experience and reasonable fitness. If this would be your first overnight trek, the Georgian Military Highway day trip or a guided day hike is a gentler introduction.
Is the lake itself swimmable or is it just a viewpoint?
Black Rock Lake sits at altitude in a border-zone setting; swimming is not the point of the visit, and water temperature and reserve rules make it unlikely in any case, checked at booking.
What happens if weather forces a turnaround?
The guide makes that call on the trail. If conditions block the final approach, you still get the forest and meadow sections and the hut overnight, with a refund policy for the unused portion detailed in our booking terms.
Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are verified by GTour.
