Georgia has recorded a record increase in visitors from China, with arrivals up 23 percent over the first nine months of the year compared with the same period previously, according to the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
The agency described the figure as the highest recorded growth rate for Chinese tourism to the country, reflecting continued expansion of the Chinese market since direct flight connections and visa-free travel arrangements were introduced in recent years.
No breakdown of total visitor numbers or spending was released alongside the percentage figure, and the administration did not specify which months were included in the nine-month period.
What it means for travellers
- Expect busier peak-season sites such as Tbilisi, Kazbegi and Batumi as Chinese group tourism continues to grow.
- Book popular hotels and guided tours in advance during high season given rising visitor volumes.
- Chinese-language signage and services may be more widely available at major attractions and airports.
