Tbilisi's Soviet modernism in one afternoon: the Ministry of Highways building, the Nutsubidze skybridge, mosaic metro stations and the Chronicles of Georgia.
- —Led by an architect-guide who explains structure and ideology, not just dates
- —Covers five distinct sites in 3.5 hours using a private car between them, so no long walks connecting districts
- —Includes the Ministry of Highways building (now Bank of Georgia HQ), one of the most photographed Soviet structures in the Caucasus
- —Visits the Nutsubidze Plateau skybridge, a residential link bridge rarely included in standard city tours
- —Stops inside working metro stations to see Soviet-era mosaics and marble work up close
- —Finishes at the Chronicles of Georgia monument, with its hilltop view over the Tbilisi Sea reservoir
- ✓ Private licensed architect-guide for the full 3.5 hours
- ✓ Private car for all transfers between sites
- ✓ Hotel pickup and drop-off in central Tbilisi
- ✓ Bottled water
- ✓ All tolls and parking
- — Archaeological Museum entrance ticket (checked at booking)
- — Food and drinks beyond water
- — Gratuities
- — Personal expenses
- · Comfortable walking shoes recommended; some ground at the skybridge and the Chronicles of Georgia site is uneven
- · The Ministry of Highways building is viewed from outside only, it is an active office building with no public access
- · Metro stations are visited during normal operating hours, so some platforms may be busier than others; flash photography is discouraged
- · The Chronicles of Georgia hilltop is exposed, dress for wind and bring a layer outside the warm months
- · This tour runs on foot at each stop with a car for the distances between them, not a continuous walk
- · Opening days for the Archaeological Museum vary by season, checked at booking
Can we go inside the Ministry of Highways building?
No, it is the working headquarters of Bank of Georgia. The visit is an exterior view with the guide explaining the structure from the street.
Is this tour suitable for limited mobility?
Partly. The skybridge and the Chronicles of Georgia site involve uneven ground and some steps; the metro stations have lifts on some lines. Tell us in advance and we will adjust the route.
What happens if a metro station is closed for maintenance?
We substitute a nearby station with comparable mosaic work; this is decided on the day by your guide.
Can this be combined with another Tbilisi tour on the same day?
Yes, it works well as a half-day either before or after our Old Town or Mtskheta itineraries. Ask us when booking.
Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are verified by GTour.
