Our founder is a physician and professor of public health; safety on our tours is reviewed with the same seriousness as a clinical protocol. This policy says what we do and what we expect from guests.
We check the Roads Department’s pass and road status every hour and the mountain forecast every morning. If a pass is closed or a weather warning is issued, the route changes or the day is rescheduled — see the cancellation policy. The guide’s decision on safety is final.
Kazbegi (1,750 m), Gudauri (2,200 m), Ushguli (2,100 m) and the Jvari pass (2,395 m) are high enough for mild altitude symptoms in some travellers. Our guides know the signs; we ascend gradually where the route allows, keep water available and descend if a guest is unwell. Read the altitude guide; tell us before booking about heart or lung conditions, pregnancy or recent surgery so we can adapt the route.
Walks on day tours are graded in the itinerary. Hiking days have a guide, a plan filed with the office, emergency numbers and a turnaround time; we do not take guests onto glaciers or exposed ridges without a certified mountain guide. Good footwear is your responsibility; we tell you what to bring.
We eat where we would eat ourselves: family cellars and restaurants from our verified register. Tap water in Tbilisi is safe; in villages we provide bottled water. Tell us about allergies when booking; Georgian cuisine uses walnuts widely.
Georgia’s emergency number is 112 (police, ambulance, fire, mountain rescue). Our guides carry a first-aid kit and know the nearest clinic on every route; the office is reachable 24 hours on tour days. Medical costs are paid by the traveller’s insurance — mandatory since 2026 for visitors; see the insurance guide and pharmacies and clinics.
Children are welcome on every tour. Child seats are provided free when requested at booking; itineraries are adapted for pace and breaks. Guests under 18 travel with a parent or guardian.
Every incident, however small, is recorded and reviewed by the office within 48 hours; what we learn changes the itinerary or the briefing. Serious incidents are reported to the authorities as the law requires and to the guest’s insurer with the guest’s consent.
