- Full traffic has resumed on the main road at the Oni entrance (km107–112 of the Kutaisi–Oni–Mamisoni Pass road); the temporary detour used since 11 July 2026 is no longer needed.
- Travellers heading to Racha, Oni or the Mamisoni Pass can now use the main route without diversions.
- Check current conditions before winter travel, as mountain roads in this area can still be affected by weather.
The Roads Department of Georgia has announced that traffic has been fully restored on the Kutaisi (Choma)–Alpana–Mamisoni Pass road near the entrance to the town of Oni, on the section between km107 and km112.
The road was damaged on 11 July 2026 after a landslide developed on a mountain slope near Oni, forcing authorities to restrict traffic on the main route. A temporary detour road was built to keep traffic moving while repair works were underway.
Repair works included stabilising the landslide area, restoring the damaged roadway and constructing a protective retaining wall. The Roads Department said the aim of the works was to stabilise the slope and ensure safe passage along the road. All types of vehicles can now use the main route again, and the temporary detour is no longer in use.
What it means for travellers
Travellers heading to Racha, Oni or crossing the Mamisoni Pass can now use the main road without needing the detour. Those planning winter trips to the region should still check current road conditions before departure, as mountain routes can be affected by weather.
