Guide and driver code of conduct

Our guests meet G Tour through a guide and a driver. These are the rules both agree to before their first tour with us; a breach ends the cooperation.

Qualifications

• Guides hold the Georgian National Tourism Administration guide licence or a recognised equivalent, speak the booked language fluently and are briefed on the guest’s interests before the day.
• Drivers hold the licence category for the vehicle, have at least three years’ experience on mountain roads, and present a clean record.
• Specialist days (hiking, wine, architecture) are led by guides with the relevant training or background; glacier and high-mountain days require a certified mountain guide.

Conduct with guests

• Punctual, sober, presentable; phones used for navigation and the office only; no smoking in or near the vehicle.
• Honest answers — including “I don’t know, I will find out” — and no political or religious persuasion. Guests’ views are respected; Georgian history is told fairly.
• No commission arrangements with shops, restaurants or wineries; no steering guests to a place for a kickback. Where we take guests is where we would go ourselves.
• Tips are welcome, never requested, never implied.
• Guests’ personal data (names, hotel, flight) is used for the tour and deleted afterwards; no photographs of guests are posted by guides or drivers without the guest’s explicit permission.
• Zero tolerance of harassment, discrimination or intimidation of any kind, towards guests, colleagues or hosts.

Safety

• Seat belts for everyone, child seats fitted correctly, speed within the limit, no overtaking on blind mountain bends, no driving on a closed road.
• The guide’s safety decision is final and is reported to the office the same day; weather and road checks before departure are mandatory.
• First-aid kit, water and the emergency plan on board; every incident reported within 24 hours.

Respect for places

Church dress codes and silence; protected-area rules; no litter; no shortcuts over private land; hosts in villages are introduced and thanked, not treated as attractions.

Reporting

Guests may report a guide or driver through the complaints procedure; reports are investigated and the result communicated. Guides and drivers may report unsafe requests from guests to the office, which will support them.
