Batumi International Airport handled approximately 1.1 million passengers in the first nine months of 2026, a 10 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to newly released figures. The growth reflects rising demand for flights to the Black Sea coastal city, a key gateway for travellers heading to Adjara and the wider western Georgia region.
The increase in passenger numbers suggests airlines have been adding capacity or frequency on routes serving Batumi, a popular entry point for visitors combining a beach stay with trips to Mtirala National Park, the Botanical Garden, or mountain routes toward Goderdzi Pass and Khulo. Higher traffic volumes typically accompany expanded seasonal schedules from European and regional carriers.
No specific airline names, routes, or capacity changes were detailed in the figures, but the double-digit growth points to continued strengthening of Batumi as an air travel hub alongside Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
