- Useful alternative to the overnight train or marshrutka for travellers short on time
Georgian Airways has announced it will launch regular flights connecting Tbilisi and Batumi, adding a new domestic air option between the capital and Georgia’s main Black Sea resort city.
The move is expected to give travellers an alternative to the long road or rail journey between the two cities, which currently takes around six hours by car or bus along the main highway.
No details on the flight schedule, frequency, aircraft type or ticket prices have yet been released by the airline.
What it means for travellers
Once launched, the new route will allow faster transfers between Tbilisi and Batumi, useful for visitors combining a city stay with Black Sea coast plans. Travellers should monitor Georgian Airways’ official channels for booking details, launch date and fares before planning connections.
