- Expect high hotel demand in Batumi and Tbilisi during peak season – book accommodation well in advance.
- Rising occupancy may mean fewer last-minute deals, especially in central Batumi and Tbilisi.
- Consider shoulder-season travel (spring or autumn) for better rates and availability.
Hotel occupancy in Georgia’s two largest tourist hubs rose significantly in the third quarter, according to data released by Galt & Taggart (G&T). Tbilisi recorded an occupancy rate of 79%, while Batumi, the Adjara region’s coastal capital, reached 84%.
The figures reflect continued strong demand for accommodation during the peak summer and early autumn travel period, when both cities typically see the highest number of visitors. Batumi’s Black Sea coastline and resort infrastructure make it a popular seasonal destination, while Tbilisi draws steady year-round interest as the country’s main gateway and cultural center.
No further breakdown by hotel category or average daily rates was provided in the release, but the occupancy levels suggest sustained growth in Georgia’s hospitality sector compared to previous quarters.
What it means for travellers
Visitors planning trips to Tbilisi or Batumi during peak season should book accommodation early, as high occupancy rates may limit last-minute options. Travelers seeking better rates or more availability might consider visiting in the spring or late autumn shoulder seasons instead.
