- Trucks with trailers or semi-trailers cannot cross the Mugudas Khevi bridge at km 51 of the Military Highway until further notice
- Cars, vans and buses without trailers can pass normally
- Check current status before travelling to Kazbegi, Gudauri or the Russian border via Larsi
The Roads Department of Georgia has imposed a temporary restriction on trailer and semi-trailer vehicles crossing a bridge at the Mugudas Khevi gorge, located at km 51 of the Mtskheta–Stepantsminda–Larsi international highway, commonly known as the Georgian Military Highway.
The restriction, which took effect on 17 October 2026, is due to urgent repair works on the bridge structure. All other types of vehicles, including cars, minibuses and standard trucks without trailers, may continue to use the crossing without restriction.
No end date has been given for the works. The Military Highway remains one of the busiest routes in Georgia, connecting Tbilisi with Gudauri, Kazbegi and the Larsi border crossing into Russia.
What it means for travellers
Drivers of vehicles with trailers or semi-trailers should expect delays or seek alternative arrangements when travelling toward Kazbegi or the Larsi border. Tourists in cars, buses or minibuses are unaffected and can continue using the route as normal. Travellers are advised to check the Roads Department website for updates before departure.
