A two-day winter run up the Georgian Military Highway to Stepantsminda, with snowshoes to Gergeti Trinity Church and a night at the Rooms Hotel below Kazbek.
| Day 1 | Depart Tbilisi around 09:00 on the Georgian Military Highway, stopping at Ananuri fortress on the Zhinvali reservoir and again in Gudauri. After crossing the Jvari Pass, weather permitting, arrive in Stepantsminda and take an afternoon snowshoe walk up to Gergeti Trinity Church, around 1 to 1.5 hours each way depending on snow depth, before checking into the Rooms Hotel for the night. |
| Day 2 | Morning free for Kazbek views from the hotel terrace if the sky is clear, followed by breakfast and a short walk around Stepantsminda. Depart late morning for Tbilisi with a stop in Gudauri, arriving back in the city by early evening. |
What happens if the Jvari Pass is closed?
We adjust timing or reroute to keep the day safe. Winter closures are common and checked daily at gtour.ge/road-status.
Do we need previous snowshoe experience?
No. The pace is gentle and the guide manages equipment and route depending on current snow depth.
Can the hotel be swapped for another in Stepantsminda?
Yes, alternatives are available at a different price; confirm options at the time of booking.
Does the tour run every day in winter?
Departures run most days, weather permitting. Exact availability is checked at booking.
