[Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/)'s churches, Svaneti's towers and [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/)'s glacier villages, then down to the Black Sea at [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/), six days end to end by private car and 4×4.

The route

[Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/)[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/)[Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/)[Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/)

Why this tour

- —Two full nights in [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) with a dedicated 4×4 day to [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/), not a rushed there-and-back from the valley.

- —Gelati and Motsameta monasteries plus Prometheus Cave are covered properly before the mountain leg, so [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/) is more than a one-night stopover.

- —One vehicle and driver for the whole route, [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/) airport to [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) airport, with no transfers between separate operators.

- —Built-in slack on day 3 and day 5 for the Zugdidi–[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) road and the Jvari Pass, which can run slow after rain or snow.

- —Finishes on the Black Sea in [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) with time for the Old Town and boulevard before your departure flight.

- —Licensed guide and driver throughout, with accommodation and most entrance fees already arranged.

Day 4Full-day 4×4 excursion to [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/), roughly two and a half hours each way on an unpaved mountain road, with time to walk among the tower-houses below Mount Shkhara before returning to [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) for the night.

Good to know

- · The Zugdidi–[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) road and the Jvari Pass can be slow or briefly closed after heavy rain or snow; day 3 and day 5 allow spare time for this

- · The [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/) road is unpaved and only driven by 4×4; bring warm layers even in late spring and early autumn, as nights at altitude are cold

- · Comfortable walking shoes are needed for the Svan towers and the stone courtyards at Gelati and Motsameta

- · Some Imereti and Svaneti churches ask for covered shoulders and knees; a scarf is enough for women

- · Mobile signal is patchy in [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/) and parts of upper Svaneti

- · Confirm museum and cave opening days at booking, several sites close on Mondays or rotate rest days

Questions

**Is the Mestia–Ushguli road safe in a regular car?**
No, we use a 4×4 for that stretch. The unpaved mountain road is rough and can close briefly after heavy rain or snow; current status is checked at booking via gtour.ge/road-status.

**Can we start or end in Tbilisi instead of Kutaisi and Batumi?**
This itinerary is built around [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/) and [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) airports. Let us know if you want a Tbilisi start or finish and we will quote a modified route.

**What is the best season for this trip?**
Late May to early October gives reliable access to [Ushguli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/ushguli/). Outside that window the Zagar and Jvari passes can close; conditions are checked at booking.

**Is the price per person based on two sharing a room?**
Yes, €1690 per person is based on two travelling together sharing a double room. Solo travellers and groups of three to six are quoted separately.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
