The route [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)[Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/)[Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/)[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) Why this tour - —Hands-on harvest work with a wine-growing family, not a staged demonstration — picking, treading grapes by foot, and filling qvevri with must - —Two different wine estates, so you see two approaches to qvevri winemaking in one trip - —A full harvest supra with toastmaster and traditional dishes cooked for the occasion - —Churchkhela making included, using fresh grape must from the same harvest - —Two nights at working wine estates plus two nights in walled [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/), rather than one base for the whole trip - —[Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/) and [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) both included, covering Kindzmarauli wine country and the Alazani valley view from the town walls Itinerary Day 1Private transfer from [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) to the [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/) area (roughly 1.5 hours), check in at the first wine estate, orientation walk through the vineyard rows and welcome dinner with the host family. Day 2Full harvest day: picking grapes in the vineyard, treading them by foot in the traditional satsnakheli, and filling qvevri with the fresh must, followed by a harvest supra with toasts in the evening. Day 3Transfer to a second estate near [Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/), tasting Kindzmarauli and comparing qvevri methods, a stop at Ilia Chavchavadze's house-museum and the Soviet-era wine tunnel, then on to [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) for check-in. Day 4Morning churchkhela-making session, then a walk along [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)'s 18th-century fortress wall and down to Bodbe Monastery and the tomb of St Nino, with free time in town in the afternoon. Day 5Final breakfast overlooking the Alazani valley, then private transfer back to [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) (about 1.5–2 hours), with drop-off at your hotel or the airport. Included - ✓ Private transport throughout in an air-conditioned car or minivan, driver included - ✓ English-speaking guide for the full 5 days - ✓ 4 nights accommodation: 2 at wine estates, 2 in Sighnaghi, based on double occupancy - ✓ Breakfast daily, plus the harvest supra dinner and one additional dinner - ✓ Hands-on harvest activities: grape picking, treading, qvevri filling - ✓ Churchkhela-making session with ingredients - ✓ Wine tastings at both estates and at the Kvareli tunnel - ✓ Entrance fees at Bodbe Monastery and the wine tunnel (checked at booking for any seasonal changes) Not included - — International flights - — Travel insurance - — Lunches (except where noted) and drinks outside tastings - — Personal expenses and gratuities - — Entrance fees to optional extra sites not listed in the itinerary Good to know - · Harvest timing depends on the vintage; dates are confirmed with the estate about two weeks ahead, typically mid-September to mid-October — this year's window has closed, next season's dates open for booking from spring 2027 - · Bring closed shoes suitable for vineyard rows and old clothes for the grape-treading, which stains - · Rural roads around the estates are mostly paved but narrow in places; a car with driver handles this without issue - · Moderate fitness is enough — the work is standing, bending and walking rather than technical, but it is a full day on your feet - · Evenings can be cool even in September, so bring a light jacket for outdoor suppers - · [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)'s old town has cobbled slopes; flat shoes are more comfortable than sandals Questions **Do I need wine knowledge to join the harvest work?** No. The family and estate staff show you what to do at each stage; no prior experience is expected. **What happens if it rains during the harvest days?** Picking can pause for weather, but treading and qvevri filling happen under cover, so the core activities usually go ahead regardless. **Can this trip run outside September–October?** The harvest work itself is seasonal and tied to the grape ripening; outside that window we can offer the same route as a wine-country tour without the harvest activities — ask about the 3-day Rtveli or Kakheti Grand Wine tours. **Is this trip suitable for solo travellers?** Yes. The €1490 per person rate is based on two travelling together; solo and group rates are quoted once we know your dates and numbers. Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you.
