Two days in Kakheti move from a family qvevri cellar to a night at a wine estate, with Tsinandali, Alaverdi and the walled town of [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) along the way.

The route

[Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)[Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/)[Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/)[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)

Why this tour

- —Four different cellars in two days: a family qvevri marani, a natural-wine producer, the Tsinandali estate, and a fourth house in [Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/) or Napareuli

- —One night spent at a working wine estate between [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/) and [Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/), not back in a city hotel

- —Alaverdi Cathedral, one of Georgia's tallest medieval churches, built into the route rather than rushed

- —Bread and cheese served alongside every tasting, so the wine is matched to food rather than poured on its own

- —[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)'s 18th-century fortress wall and the Bodbe monastery of St Nino worked into the return leg

- —Private car and licensed guide for both days — no joining a mixed group on someone else's schedule

Itinerary

Day 1Pickup in [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) around 09:00, drive over the Gombori pass to [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/) (about two hours), then a family qvevri marani for a tasting with bread and cheese and an explanation of the clay-vessel method.

Day 1Afternoon at the Tsinandali estate — Alexander Chavchavadze's house, the park, and the winery's own tasting room — followed by Alaverdi Cathedral before checking into a wine estate for the night.

Day 2Breakfast at the estate, then on to [Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/) for a natural-wine producer or a house in Napareuli, with the Kvareli wine tunnel added if opening hours allow (checked at booking).

Day 2[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) for a walk along the fortress wall and the view over the Alazani valley, then Bodbe monastery, with return to [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) by early evening.

Good to know

- · Alaverdi and Bodbe are working religious sites — shoulders and knees covered, and headscarves provided for women if needed

- · The Gombori pass can be slow or foggy outside summer months, add buffer time on the drive out

- · Tastings run four to five pours per cellar with food alongside, pace yourself across the two days

- · [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)'s streets are steep and cobbled, bring comfortable walking shoes

- · Harvest season (September–October) means fuller cellars and shorter notice for bookings — ask us for the current picture

- · Rooms at the wine estate are simple and comfortable rather than luxury hotel standard

Questions

**Do we really visit four different cellars, or is one a shop stop?**
All four are working producers — a family marani, a natural-wine house, the Tsinandali estate winery, and a fourth cellar in [Kvareli](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kvareli/) or Napareuli depending on availability on your dates.

**Is this suitable if one of us doesn't drink wine?**
Yes, every stop also serves bread, cheese and usually fruit or khachapuri, and guides are used to adjusting the pace for non-drinkers in the group.

**What is the overnight stay like?**
A working wine estate with guest rooms, generally simple and comfortable rather than a large hotel, breakfast included.

**Can you add an extra night in Kakheti or Tbilisi before or after?**
Yes, tell us your dates and we will quote the extra night and adjust the pickup or drop-off accordingly.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
