Three days in Kakheti built entirely around food: two supras with a tamada, a vine-cutting mtsvadi barbecue, a cooking morning, and cellar lunches in [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/) and [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/).

The route

[Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)[Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/)[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)

Why this tour

- —Two full supras with a tamada and proper toasts, not a token restaurant dinner

- —A cooking morning in a Kakhetian family kitchen, making khinkali, badrijani nigvzit and pkhali from scratch

- —Mtsvadi grilled over vine cuttings, the traditional Kakhetian fuel, not charcoal

- —Cellar lunches with qvevri wine tastings in both [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/) and [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)

- —[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)'s walled old town and Bodbe monastery included without rushing the schedule

- —Licensed guide and private car throughout, so drive times and stops are set to your pace

Itinerary

Day 1Pickup in [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) around 09:00 and the drive to [Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/), Kakheti's wine capital, about two hours including a coffee stop. Lunch at a family cellar with a qvevri wine tasting, then a walk past the Telavi royal palace and the old plane tree before the first supra of the trip, with a tamada and toasts.

Day 2A cooking morning in a Kakhetian village kitchen, preparing khinkali, badrijani nigvzit and pkhali with a local family, followed by lunch of what you cooked. Afternoon visit to Alaverdi Cathedral and Ikalto monastery, then a mtsvadi barbecue grilled over vine cuttings as the evening comes in.

Day 3Morning in [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/), the restored walled town above the Alazani valley, followed by Bodbe monastery and the tomb of St Nino. Second supra lunch with cellar hosts before the drive back to [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/), arriving by early evening.

Good to know

- · Dress modestly for monastery visits: shoulders and knees covered, headscarves provided at entrances for women

- · Cobblestones in [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) and uneven village paths, bring comfortable shoes

- · Two supras in three days is a serious amount of food and wine, pace yourself at the table

- · October marks the end of the rtveli grape harvest, so cellars are still pouring new wine but the vines themselves are bare

- · Rural roads between villages can be narrow and potholed in places, journeys allow for this

- · Vegetarian or other dietary needs can be arranged for the cooking morning and both supras if flagged at booking

Questions

**Is this suitable for vegetarians?**
Yes. The cooking morning and both supras can be adjusted for vegetarians or other dietary needs if you tell us when booking.

**How much walking is involved?**
Light. Cobblestones in [Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/) and short approaches to the monasteries, no hiking is required.

**Do we have to drink at every toast?**
No. Toasts are traditionally made with wine, but non-drinkers can substitute juice or water, and no one is required to finish every glass.

**Is there a shorter version of this trip?**
Yes, our Kakheti Classic and Kakheti Farm-to-Table Day trips cover similar ground as single-day outings if three days is more than you want.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
