Trade the main road for a 4×4 day beneath the Chaukhi massif: [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/), the stone heads of Sno, and Gergeti Trinity Church at golden hour.

The route

[Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)[Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/)[Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/)

Why this tour

- —[Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) village (2,150 m) sits directly under the Chaukhi massif, reached only by 4×4 on a track ordinary cars cannot manage.

- —A short walk from [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) towards the Chaukhi ridge gives the views without committing to the full Juta–Roshka trek.

- —Sno village and its outdoor sculpture park of carved stone heads, a stop most Kazbegi day trips skip entirely.

- —Gergeti Trinity Church visited by jeep in late afternoon, after the morning coach groups have gone back down.

- —Private 4×4 included for the [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) detour, no shared marshrutka and no waiting on other passengers.

- —One licensed driver-guide for the whole day, [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) to [Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/) and back on the Georgian Military Highway.

Good to know

- · Dress in layers: [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) and Gergeti sit well above [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)'s altitude and temperature can drop quickly once the sun goes down.

- · The [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) track is unpaved and the 4×4 transfer takes about 30 minutes each way from [Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/); it can close after heavy rain or early snow, checked at booking against gtour.ge/road-status.

- · The walk at [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) is short and on uneven ground; it is not the full Juta–Roshka trek, but sturdy shoes are needed.

- · Gergeti Trinity Church requires modest dress: long trousers for men, a headscarf and skirt or trousers for women, skirts are usually available at the entrance.

- · Best from May to October; outside this window [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) access can be unreliable and is confirmed on the morning of departure.

- · Bring a camera with a wide lens for the Chaukhi massif and Kazbek views, and cash for any small purchases in Sno or [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/).

Questions

**Is this a hiking tour?**
No. It includes a short walk from [Juta](https://gtour.ge/georgia/juta/) towards the Chaukhi massif, not the multi-hour Juta–Roshka trek. Fitness needed is modest.

**How much does this day trip cost?**
€240 per person based on two people travelling together. Solo travellers and groups of three or more are quoted at booking, with a lower per-person rate for larger groups.

**What happens if the Juta track is closed?**
If snow, rain or landslide closes the track, the day is adjusted to spend more time in [Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/), Sno and at Gergeti Trinity Church, confirmed with you before departure.

**Can this be combined with an overnight in Kazbegi?**
Yes, ask us about extending to the 2-day Kazbegi itinerary if you prefer not to return to [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) the same evening.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
