The route

[Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/)

Why this tour

- —Two heliski days built into the schedule, flown only when conditions are safe

- —Five ski days total, mixing on-piste warm-up with guided off-piste and freeride terrain

- —Certified mountain guides lead every off-piste and heli day, not just lift-served runs

- —Avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel provided and checked before each descent

- —Private transfers from Tbilisi on the Georgian Military Highway, roughly two hours each way

- —[Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/) base gives direct access to the Kudebi and Sadzele sectors without daily relocation

Itinerary

Day 1Pick-up in Tbilisi and private transfer along the Georgian Military Highway to [Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/), about two hours with a stop at Ananuri. Check-in, equipment fitting and an avalanche safety briefing with your guide in the afternoon.

Day 2First ski day on [Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/)'s pisted terrain to assess the group's level, followed by an afternoon off-piste run with the guide scouting conditions for the heliski window.

Day 3Heliski day 1, weather permitting: helicopter access to off-piste descents above [Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/) with the certified guide, typically 3-5 runs depending on snow and visibility. If the helicopter cannot fly, the day shifts to guided freeride on accessible slopes.

Day 4Freeride and off-piste day on foot-accessed terrain around Kudebi and Sadzele, with route choice based on recent snowfall and avalanche bulletin.

Day 5Heliski day 2, weather permitting, using the second scheduled flying window of the week. Backup day is guided on-piste and sidecountry skiing if conditions do not allow flying.

Day 6Final short ski session in the morning if time and conditions allow, then check-out and private transfer back to Tbilisi, arriving early afternoon.

Good to know

- · Heliski days depend entirely on weather and visibility; the itinerary builds in backup ski days so the week is not wasted if a flight is cancelled

- · Dedicated freeride and glacier travel insurance is required for the heliski component, not standard travel insurance; check your policy before booking

- · Intermediate to advanced ski or snowboard level is expected for off-piste and heli terrain; this is not a beginner package

- · February and March offer the most consistent snowpack in [Gudauri](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/); conditions and avalanche risk vary year to year

- · Bring your own helmet if you have one, along with layered clothing, goggles and sun protection for high-altitude glare

- · The Georgian Military Highway can close temporarily after heavy snowfall; check https://gtour.ge/road-status/ before travel dates

Questions

**What happens if the helicopter cannot fly on both scheduled days?**
Both heliski days have a built-in backup: guided off-piste or sidecountry skiing from the lifts, led by the same certified guide, at no extra charge.

**Is this suitable for intermediate skiers?**
Confident intermediate skiers comfortable off-piste can usually join the freeride days; heliski runs require a stronger off-piste level, which we discuss before booking.

**Does the price include ski or snowboard rental?**
No, rental is arranged locally and quoted separately at booking; many guests prefer their own boots for fit.

**Is insurance really mandatory?**
Yes, for the heliski days you need a policy that covers off-piste skiing and helicopter evacuation; standard travel insurance usually does not, so check the wording before you fly.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
