Eight days through Kakheti, Kartli, Racha and Imereti with a winemaker-guide, timing every cellar visit around pressing and ageing rather than shop hours.
| Day 1 | Arrival in Tbilisi with airport transfer, an afternoon walk through the Old Town, and an evening at two or three natural wine bars tasting qvevri and amber wines from small producers. |
| Day 2 | Drive from Tbilisi to Telavi over the Gombori Pass, stopping at Alaverdi Monastery's working qvevri cellar and the Ikalto Academy ruins, then a family cellar tasting in Telavi near the royal palace and the old plane tree. |
| Day 3 | Telavi to Sighnaghi: the restored walled town above the Alazani valley, Bodbe Monastery and the tomb of St Nino, with vineyard views over the valley floor. |
| Day 4 | Sighnaghi to Kvareli via Gremi and Nekresi monasteries, then Kindzmarauli tastings, the Soviet-era wine tunnel, and Ilia Chavchavadze's birthplace in Kvareli. |
| Day 5 | Kvareli to Gori, a drive of around four hours, with a stop at a Kartli cellar for Chinuri and Goruli Mtsvane, then the cave city of Uplistsikhe and Gori's hilltop fortress. |
| Day 6 | Gori to Ambrolauri in Racha, visiting Nikortsminda Cathedral's carved facade before Khvanchkara tastings at a family cellar. |
| Day 7 | Ambrolauri to Kutaisi, taking in Gelati Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral, an Imereti cellar for Tsolikouri, and the Kutaisi market and riverside. |
| Day 8 | Free morning in Kutaisi, with Sataplia or the Prometheus cave possible on request, before transfer to Kutaisi International Airport. |
Will we see the grape harvest?
By late October the main harvest (rtveli) is normally finished across all five regions; cellars will be in active fermentation or early pressing instead. Exact timing varies by vintage, checked at booking.
Is this suitable for non-drinkers or light drinkers?
Yes. Tastings are optional everywhere on the route, and winemakers are used to pouring small samples or pairing food with juice instead of wine.
What does it cost for a solo traveller or a group?
The quoted price of €2690 per person is based on two people travelling together. Solo travellers and groups of three or more are quoted separately, contact us with your dates.
How much time is spent driving each day?
This is a genuine touring route across five regions, not a loop from one base. The longest leg, Kvareli to Gori, takes around four hours; other days are shorter and include stops along the way.
