The route

[Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/)[Sighnaghi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sighnaghi/)[Telavi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/telavi/)[Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/)[Gori](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gori/)[Akhaltsikhe](https://gtour.ge/georgia/akhaltsikhe/)[Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/)[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/)[Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/)

Why this tour

- —One continuous loop through five regions, Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Svaneti and Adjara, without doubling back

- —Private car and driver for the whole route, changed to a 4×4 for the [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/)–[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) leg and any winter mountain sections

- —Covers both cave cities, Uplistsikhe and Vardzia, plus Gelati, Alaverdi, Gremi and Bodbe monasteries

- —A full day in [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) built in, so the Svaneti leg is not a drive-through

- —Hand-picked hotels in each region, the same properties we use on our shorter tours and would book ourselves

- —Priced at €3290 per person for two travelling together, with solo and group rates quoted on request

Good to know

- · The Georgian Military Highway and the [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) road can close for short periods after heavy snow or rockfall, even outside winter; check road status before travelling

- · Bring layers: [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) and [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) can be 10-15C warmer than [Stepantsminda](https://gtour.ge/georgia/stepantsminda/) or [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) on the same day

- · Comfortable walking shoes are needed for Uplistsikhe, Vardzia and the Svan towers, all uneven stone with some stairs

- · Shoulders and heads should be covered for women at working monasteries including Bodbe, Alaverdi and Gelati

- · [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) to [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) is a long driving day, around 7 hours; a seasonal flight Mestia-[Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/) exists as an alternative but is not included

- · This is a fixed-route private tour, not a group departure, so start dates and small changes to the order of days are flexible

Questions

**Can we shorten or extend the route?**
Yes. Each day can be adjusted, and regions such as Tusheti or an extra night in [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) can be added, checked at booking.

**Is this trip possible outside summer?**
Yes, the route runs year-round, but November to April requires extra buffer days around the Military Highway and Svaneti sections in case of closures.

**Do we need a 4×4 for the whole trip?**
No. A sedan or minivan covers most of the route; a 4×4 is used for the [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/)–[Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) leg and any mountain sections affected by snow.

**Can we visit Ushguli?**
Ushguli can be added as a day trip from [Mestia](https://gtour.ge/georgia/mestia/) if the road is open at the time of travel, checked at booking.

Prices are per person for two travelling together, in euros; solo travellers and larger groups are quoted on request. Every departure is private and adjusted to you. Hotels, wineries and restaurants on our routes are [verified by GTour](/verified/).
