Seven days by 4x4 across three mountain provinces — Kazbegi, the fortress villages of Khevsureti and the remote towers of Tusheti — ending in Kakheti wine country.
| Day 1 | Arrival in Tbilisi, private transfer from the airport, and an afternoon orientation walk through the Old Town. Briefing on the week's route and road conditions. Overnight Tbilisi. |
| Day 2 | Drive the Georgian Military Highway to Stepantsminda, with stops at Ananuri fortress and Gudauri. Afternoon visit to Gergeti Trinity Church below Mount Kazbek, by 4x4 or on foot depending on the group. Overnight Stepantsminda. |
| Day 3 | 4x4 crossing of the Datvisjvari Pass into Khevsureti, descending to the fortress village of Shatili on the Arghuni River. If the onward track is open, a short visit to Mutso in the afternoon (checked at booking). Overnight Shatili, guesthouse. |
| Day 4 | Long return drive from Shatili to Tbilisi over unpaved mountain roads, with stops in the Pshavi villages along the way. Overnight Tbilisi. |
| Day 5 | Drive east into Kakheti to Alvani, then the 4x4 crossing of the Abano Pass (around 2,850m) into Tusheti, descending to Omalo. Overnight Omalo, guesthouse. |
| Day 6 | Full day in Tusheti: drive and walk to the tower village of Dartlo, one of the highest inhabited settlements on the route, with time among the stone defensive houses. Return to Omalo. Overnight Omalo. |
| Day 7 | Return over the Abano Pass to Alvani, then on to Telavi in Kakheti, with a stop at Alaverdi Monastery or Ikalto depending on timing (checked at booking). Transfer back to Tbilisi to end the tour. |
Can this tour run in spring or autumn?
No. The Datvisjvari and Abano passes are snowbound outside roughly July to September, and the exact opening dates vary by year, checked at booking.
How rough are the roads really?
Unpaved mountain track for most of three of the seven days, with drop-offs and river crossings on the Abano approach. We use a 4x4 with a driver who works these passes regularly, not a general-purpose vehicle.
What is the accommodation like in Shatili and Omalo?
Family guesthouses with simple rooms and shared bathrooms. Tbilisi and Telavi nights are in comfortable hotels by comparison.
What does this cost for a solo traveller or a group of three or more?
