The route

[Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/)[Kobuleti](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kobuleti/)

Why this tour

- —Mtirala is the wettest place in Georgia, with a trail through genuine Colchic rainforest rather than managed parkland

- —The route to the waterfall crosses suspension bridges over the Mtirala river gorge

- —Chakvi's tea bushes date to the late 19th century, among the first commercial plantings in the Russian Empire

- —Tasting includes both Georgian black and green tea, with explanation of how the leaf is processed locally

- —Short transfer from [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) (about 30–40 minutes), so most of the day is spent walking and tasting, not driving

- —Private car and licensed guide throughout, no joining a bus tour or fixed group schedule

Itinerary

08:30Pickup in [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/), drive toward Chakvi and [Kobuleti](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kobuleti/) along the coastal road, with the Black Sea on one side and tea terraces climbing the hills on the other.

09:30Enter Mtirala National Park and start the walk toward the Mtirala waterfall, following the marked trail through Colchic forest with beech, chestnut and fern cover; the path crosses two suspension bridges over the gorge.

11:00Reach the waterfall and the small lake nearby, with time to rest, photograph the falls, and have a snack before heading back (bring water, the walk is humid even on dry days).

13:00Return to the park entrance and drive to a working tea plantation in Chakvi, where rows of tea bushes planted under the Russian Empire still produce leaf today.

14:00Guided walk through the plantation with an explanation of harvesting and processing, followed by a seated tasting of Georgian black and green tea.

15:30Drive back to [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/), with drop-off at your hotel by mid to late afternoon.

- · Bring a light rain layer, Mtirala receives rain even on days that start clear in [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/)

- · The round trip walk to the waterfall and lake covers roughly 8 to 9 km on uneven forest paths with some uphill sections

- · Suitable for most fitness levels but not recommended for those with knee or balance problems due to the suspension bridges and loose stones

- · Best from April to October, winter visits are possible but trails can be slippery and some facilities close, checked at booking
