By early November, the Kazbegi district settles into its quieter, colder rhythm. The crowds that fill Stepantsminda in summer have thinned, the light on Mount Kazbek sharpens, and the Georgian Military Road becomes a drive for travellers who want the highlands without the queues. From Achkhoti, the obvious anchor point is Stepantsminda and the Gergeti Trinity Church above it, reachable by a well-known track or 4×4 transfer.
