Rachisubani is a small winery located in Kvemo Kartli, a region south of Tbilisi known for its mix of agricultural lowlands and historic sites, including the medieval monasteries and fortress ruins scattered across the Trialeti and Bolnisi districts. The cellar sits on Nikortsminda street, within reach of local roads connecting the area to the capital and to nearby towns such as Marneuli, Bolnisi and Tetritsqaro, making it a feasible stop for travelers exploring the southern wine and countryside routes of Georgia.

The winery was founded in 2019 by vigneron and winemaker Nikoloz Iremashvili, who oversees the production here. As a relatively young operation, it reflects the broader growth of small, independently run wineries across Kvemo Kartli, a region less associated with wine tourism than Kakheti but increasingly drawing interest from visitors seeking lesser-known producers.

Rachisubani suits travelers interested in boutique Georgian wine production and those planning a wider tour of Kvemo Kartli’s landscapes and cultural sites, rather than visitors seeking large-scale commercial wine estates.

Wine — Kvemo Kartli, Georgia

Rachisubani Winery was founded in 2019 by vigneron and winemaker Nikoloz Iremashvili.

Nikoloz’s wife, Tamar Okriashvili, inherited traditional viticulture and winemaking from her family. Originally from the Racha region, Tamar’s grandfather resettled his family in Bolnisi in 1956, where he planted new vineyards of the Georgian grape Rkatsiteli and the European variety Aligoté, which he got from a vine nursery in Bolnisi. In later years, he was actively helped by Nikoloz, and he bequeathed all the vineyards to him.

Nikoloz decided to uphold the family tradition and turned viticulture and wine
