Vakho Okruashvili Wine Cellar is a small, family-run winery situated on Agmashenebeli Street in the village of Velistsikhe, in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. Kakheti is the country’s principal wine-producing area, known for its traditional qvevri winemaking method and extensive vineyards stretching across the Alazani Valley, and family cellars such as this one form part of the region’s wider wine tourism landscape.

Velistsikhe lies within reach of several well-known Kakhetian towns, including Gurjaani, Telavi and the hilltop town of Sighnaghi, all of which offer additional wineries, churches and scenic viewpoints over the valley. Guests who come to us can learn about the tradition of making wine in Qvevri, as well as taste wine directly from the Qvevri. Get acquainted with traditional Georgian cuisine.
