Temi Community Wine Cellar is a wine-producing site in Kakheti operated under the Temi Community for Disabled, a social enterprise whose roots go back to 1991, when its founders acquired the former hospital building in Gremi village as the base for their work and production.

The cellar sits within Gremi, a village long associated with the 16th-century Gremi fortress complex and the Church of the Archangels, one of the notable historic sites of the Kakheti wine region. The surrounding Alazani Valley is known for its vineyards, and nearby towns such as Kvareli and Telavi, along with the Nekresi monastery complex, are within easy reach along the main roads that cross this part of Kakheti, making it simple to combine a visit with other regional sights.

The cellar suits travelers interested in Georgia’s wine culture alongside its social and historical dimension, offering a point of interest for those exploring Gremi and the wider Kakheti wine route who wish to understand local winemaking in a community context.

Wine — Kakheti, Georgia

TEMI has its origins in 1991, when the Community founders bought the former hospital of Gremi village and its adjoining land and invited first fosterlings (youngsters who grew up in state institutions) to live there as a small extended family. Over the years, the family grew and now gives home to more than 60 people of different ages and backgrounds (Orphans; half orphans; the physically and mentally disabled; the poor; the homeless; the isolated and lonely; the marginalized; single mothers; IDP-s; refuges; the unemployed; disenfranchised and marginalized youth; the elderly and others).
