Levan Kukchishvili’s Cellar is a historic wine cellar in the Kvemo Kartli region, built by German colonists and in operation since 1819. The long history of the site reflects the wider story of German settlement in this part of Georgia, where colonists established farms, vineyards and craft workshops from the early nineteenth century onward, leaving a visible mark on local architecture and winemaking traditions.

The cellar stands on M. Kostava street, within reach of Kvemo Kartli’s main towns, including Bolnisi, an area long associated with German colonial heritage and viticulture. The region lies within a reasonable drive of Tbilisi, making it accessible for visitors combining a capital-based itinerary with excursions into the surrounding countryside, vineyards and historic settlements of Kvemo Kartli.

This place suits travelers interested in Georgia’s lesser-known wine heritage and the layered cultural history of Kvemo Kartli, particularly those curious about the German colonial legacy in the Caucasus alongside the region’s established winemaking traditions.
