Japharidze Winery is a small wine producer located in Kvemo Kartli, a region in southeastern Georgia known for its long-standing viticultural traditions, including the use of traditional qvevri vessels. The winery was founded in 2018 by Irakli Japharidze, noted as one of the younger members of the local winemaking community, reflecting a newer generation entering the region’s established wine culture.

The address places the winery on Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani street, within reach of Kvemo Kartli’s broader wine-growing districts such as Bolnisi, an area historically associated with Georgian winemaking and ancient grape cultivation. The region lies within a reasonable drive of Tbilisi, making it accessible for visitors combining a wine-focused excursion with sightseeing in the capital or nearby historical sites typical of Kvemo Kartli’s landscape of vineyards, rural villages, and agricultural countryside.

This listing suits travelers interested in smaller, producer-led wineries rather than large commercial estates, particularly those curious about newer entrants to Georgia’s wine scene. It may appeal to visitors exploring Kvemo Kartli’s wine routes as part of a self-guided tour of the region’s vineyards and rural character.

Wine — Kvemo Kartli, Georgia

“Japharidze Winery” was founded in 2018 by Irakli Japharidze, one of the youngest members of the Bolnisi Winemakers’ Association “Wine Bolnisi”.

Irakli represents the fourth generation of Japaridzes who voluntarily settled in Ekaterinenfeld (now Bolnisi) from Racha: Great-grandfather Valerian Japharidze, after the migration of Swabian colonists, settled in one of the German houses, which, according to the Swabian tradition of that time, also had a cellar. The Japaridzes’ cellar is now 170 years old, has fully preserved its original appearance and is an ideal environment for winemaking.
