History of Qvevri is a small winery located in Kakheti, Georgia’s principal wine-producing region, known worldwide for its ancient qvevri winemaking tradition recognized by UNESCO. The winery invites visitors for a tasting of wine and chacha, including Rkatsiteli aged using traditional methods, offering a direct look at the qvevri-based winemaking practiced across the Alazani Valley for centuries.

Kakheti stretches across eastern Georgia and is easily reached from Tbilisi by road, typically within one to two hours depending on the exact destination. The region is home to well-known towns such as Telavi, Sighnaghi and Gurjaani, along with vineyards, historic churches and monasteries scattered through the valley. Visitors often combine wine tastings with stops at these nearby sites to get a fuller picture of Kakhetian culture and landscape.

This winery suits travelers interested in traditional Georgian wine culture, particularly those curious about qvevri fermentation and chacha, Georgia’s grape spirit. It offers a modest, focused stop for anyone exploring Kakheti’s wine route rather than a large-scale commercial estate.
