### In short

Agidela is a small, family-run winery in the village of Berbuki, in Gori Municipality, Shida Kartli. It was founded in 2020 by two professional winemakers, Lasha Chkuaseli and Eli Tsiskarishvili, who left Tbilisi to build their own production from scratch. The winery says it focuses on classic (European-method) and sparkling wines made from grape varieties associated with the Kartli region, and that it aims to contribute to the development of winemaking in Shida Kartli. According to the winery, annual production is now around 15,000 bottles.

### The estate and its history

Agidela was established by a couple, Lasha Chkuaseli and Eli Tsiskarishvili, both trained winemakers. Before starting their own label, the winery says they worked both at large commercial wine enterprises and at small cellars in Tbilisi. Lasha also gained experience working abroad, in Germany and New Zealand, which the winery describes as having had a formative influence on Agidela’s approach to winemaking and its working style. At a certain point the couple decided to step away from city life in Tbilisi and move to the village in order to set up their own, small-scale production.

The winery says that Kartli’s grape varieties are well suited to both classic and sparkling winemaking, and that this is why Lasha and Eli chose to focus on producing classic-method wines from local Kartli varieties rather than following other styles. Agidela does not yet own its vineyards; instead, it works with contracted vine-growers, with involvement, according to the winery, in all necessary vineyard operations and a stated focus on quality from the vine onward.

- 2020 – Agidela founded by Lasha Chkuaseli and Eli Tsiskarishvili

- 2020 onward – production gradually increased year by year, the winery says

- 2023 – first vintages of Pet-Nat and Sauvignon Blanc produced, both by the classic method

- Present day – annual production stands at roughly 15,000 bottles, according to the winery

### Vineyards, grapes and method

Agidela works with grape varieties it associates with the Kartli region: Goruli Mtsvane, Tavkveri, Chinuri, Sauvignon Blanc and Shavkapito. The winery does not currently cultivate its own vineyard plots; grapes are sourced through contracted growers, with the winery stating it is involved in vineyard operations and oriented toward quality control at that stage. Agidela says it maintains its own wine laboratory, where various parameters of the wine can be tested, allowing quality control through the full cycle, from grape processing to bottling, and informing technical decisions along the way.

Winemaking at Agidela currently follows the classic, or European, method for both still and sparkling wines, including a Pet-Nat style first produced in 2023. The winery states that its future plans include planting its own vineyard, experimenting with the traditional qvevri method adapted to Kartli varieties, and expanding its range of sparkling wines.

### The wines

- **Goruli Mtsvane** — white, classic method; the winery describes it as high in acidity with citrus and tropical fruit aromas and flavours, and calls it Agidela’s calling card; listed at 28 (local currency) on the winery’s online shop.

- **Pet-Nat** — sparkling, classic method; first produced in 2023; listed at 33.

- **Sauvignon Blanc** — white, classic method; first produced in 2023; listed at 31.

- **Shavkapito** — red, classic method, from the Kartli variety of the same name; listed at 27.

- **Tavkveri Rosé** — rosé, classic method, made from the Tavkveri grape; listed at 28.

- **Aromatized wine, Tavkveri** — an aromatized wine based on Tavkveri; listed at 37.

- **Cherry liqueur** — a liqueur made from cherries; listed at 25.

The winery’s product range also includes chacha, listed as a separate category on its website, alongside the wines and liqueurs above. Prices quoted are those shown in Agidela’s own online shop at the time of writing and should be confirmed directly with the winery.

### Visiting

Agidela’s website does not publish set tasting hours, a tour itinerary, or visit pricing. The site provides a phone number and email address for enquiries, which travellers wishing to arrange a visit, tasting, or cellar tour should use to contact the winery directly in advance.

### Food and stays

No restaurant, guesthouse or event space is mentioned on Agidela’s website. The winery presents itself as a wine (and chacha and liqueur) production business rather than a hospitality venue, so travellers should not expect on-site dining or accommodation unless this is confirmed directly with Agidela when booking a visit.

### Awards

No awards or competition results are stated on Agidela’s website.

### Location and getting there

Agidela is based in the village of Berbuki, Gori Municipality, in the Shida Kartli region; an address of 10 Street Lane I, #7 is also associated with the winery. Gori, the nearest major town, lies roughly 80 km west of Tbilisi, a drive of about 1 to 1.5 hours along the main highway; Berbuki is a short additional distance from Gori within the same municipality. Given its position in Shida Kartli, a visit to Agidela can reasonably be combined with other regional sights such as Gori town, Uplistsikhe cave town, or other wineries and historical sites in the area, though travellers should confirm opening arrangements with Agidela before planning a route.
