Yes, Saudi citizens can enter Georgia without a visa. Under Georgia’s visa-free regime, holders of ordinary Saudi passports may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits, with no e-visa or arrival stamp fee required at the border. This has been the rule since Georgia expanded its visa-free list, and it sits alongside steadily growing numbers of Gulf visitors who come for the mountain air in summer and, increasingly, for skiing in winter.

That said, visa rules are set by government decree and can change without much notice, so this guide should be read as a starting point rather than a guarantee. Before booking, confirm current terms on the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa information page and on the national [e-Visa portal](https://www.evisa.gov.ge/en), which also lists exceptions for diplomatic or official passports. Below we cover how to get to Georgia from Saudi Arabia, what to do about money, language, food and prayer, where Saudi families tend to base themselves, and the health and safety points worth knowing before you travel.

### Visa and entry rules for Saudi citizens

Saudi nationals travelling on ordinary passports do not need a visa for short tourist or business stays in Georgia. The standard allowance is 90 days per 180-day period, counted from first entry, and it applies at air, land and sea borders alike. There is no requirement to register with police for stays under this limit, and no deposit or onward-ticket proof is normally asked for, though border officers can request it at their discretion. If you plan to stay longer, work, study or bring family members on a different passport type, check the residence permit rules on the [e-Visa and immigration portal](https://www.evisa.gov.ge/en) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa page rather than relying on advice from a travel agent or a previous trip, since categories and fee schedules are reviewed periodically.

Georgia does not currently require any Covid-19 testing or vaccination certificate for entry, but health entry rules can be reinstated quickly in response to outbreaks, so check the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health advisories close to your travel date rather than assuming the 2026 position will hold indefinitely.

### Getting there: flights from Saudi Arabia

There is no single nonstop flight network connecting every Saudi city to Georgia, and schedules change seasonally, so always confirm current routings directly with the airline or airport before booking connecting transport. In recent seasons there have been direct or near-direct seasonal services between Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam and [Tbilisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/tbilisi/), with additional capacity into [Batumi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/batumi/) and [Kutaisi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/kutaisi/) during the summer peak when Gulf demand is highest. Outside the direct options, one-stop connections through Istanbul, Dubai, Doha or Baku are frequent and usually add only two to four hours to the journey.

| Georgian airport | Typical Saudi connections | Check schedules |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Tbilisi (TBS) | Seasonal direct and one-stop from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam | tbilisiairport.com flights |
| Batumi (BUS) | Summer charter and seasonal links, mostly one-stop | batumiairport.com flights |
| Kutaisi (KUT) | Mainly connecting via regional hubs | kutaisiairport.com flights |

Land borders with Turkey ([Sarpi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/sarpi/), near Batumi) and Azerbaijan (Red Bridge, near Tbilisi and [Lagodekhi](https://gtour.ge/georgia/lagodekhi/)) are open to foreign visitors with valid visa-free status, and some travellers combine a Gulf stopover with an overland leg from Turkey. This is a longer option and only worth it if you are already touring the region.

### Driving, money and SIM cards

A valid Saudi driving licence is generally accepted for driving in Georgia during a visa-free stay, though Georgian traffic police and car-hire firms increasingly ask for an International Driving Permit alongside it, since the Law of Georgia on Road Traffic sets conditions for foreign licences that are not written in Georgian, Latin or Russian script. Carry both documents and check current requirements on the [Legislative Herald of Georgia](https://matsne.gov.ge/en) or with your car-hire company before relying on a Saudi licence alone, since enforcement practice can vary by region and has tightened in recent years. Road conditions in mountain areas such as Gudauri and Kazbegi can be demanding in winter and rules on winter tyres are enforced on the [Georgian Military Highway](https://gtour.ge/georgia/gudauri/); see the Georgian Road Department’s [traffic and road conditions page](https://georoad.gov.ge/en) before a winter drive.

The Georgian lari (GEL) is the only legal tender; Saudi riyals are not accepted outside a handful of tourist shops and should be exchanged or withdrawn as lari. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Tbilisi, Batumi and ski resorts, including at most hotels and restaurants, though smaller family-run guesthouses and rural shops may be cash-only. ATMs are common in cities and resort towns. Local SIM cards from Georgia’s three main operators are inexpensive and sold at airport kiosks with a passport; eSIM options are also increasingly available if your device supports them.

### Language, prayer times and getting around

Georgian is the official language and English is the second language of tourism, spoken reasonably well in hotels, major restaurants and by most licensed guides in Tbilisi, Batumi and the main resort towns. Arabic-speaking guides and drivers are increasingly available, particularly in summer, and a number of tour operators, including GTour, can arrange Arabic-speaking staff on request for families travelling from the Gulf. It is worth confirming this in advance rather than assuming it is standard, since availability is seasonal and concentrated around the main resorts.

Mosques and prayer facilities exist in both main destinations: the Tbilisi Juma Mosque in the old town serves both Sunni and Shia communities under one roof, a historical arrangement unusual in the region, and the Orta Jame mosque in Batumi’s old town is an active place of worship in a city with a long Ottoman-era Muslim community. Both are open to respectful visitors outside prayer times. Prayer time apps calibrated to Tbilisi, Batumi or Kazbegi coordinates work reliably, since Georgia does not publish its own national prayer timetable.

### Food, halal options and mosques

Georgian cuisine is built around bread, cheese, walnuts, grilled meats and wine, and pork appears frequently in traditional dishes, so halal awareness matters when choosing restaurants. Halal-certified or halal-friendly restaurants, often run by Turkish, Azerbaijani or local Muslim families, are established in Tbilisi’s old town and Batumi’s seafront district, and their number has grown alongside Gulf tourism. Many Georgian dishes are naturally halal-compatible, including khachapuri (cheese bread), lobio (bean stew), most salads, grilled chicken and fish, and the country’s extensive vegetable and fruit markets. When in doubt, ask directly whether meat is halal-sourced, since certification signage is not yet universal outside dedicated halal establishments.

### Where Gulf families go and when to travel

June to August is the peak season for Saudi and wider Gulf visitors, drawn by daytime temperatures in the high teens to low twenties Celsius in the mountains, a sharp contrast to summer heat at home. Family villas and serviced apartments in [Bakuriani](https://gtour.ge/georgia/bakuriani/), Gudauri and Kazbegi are in high demand during this window, and booking two to three months ahead is advisable for July and August. Winter brings a second, smaller wave for skiing in Gudauri and Bakuriani, where resort operators have added family-friendly lodges and halal catering options in response to demand; see resort planning information from [Gudauri.travel](https://gudauri.travel) and the government’s mountain resorts development page for lift and season details, which are updated annually.

- Bakuriani: family-oriented ski town, gentle slopes, short transfer from Tbilisi

- Gudauri: larger resort with longer runs, popular for both summer scenery and winter sport

- Kazbegi: dramatic mountain scenery around Mount Kazbek, day trips and short stays

### Historical ties and growing tourism links

Georgia and Saudi Arabia do not share a long historical relationship in the way Georgia does with neighbouring states, but ties have grown markedly in the past decade through trade, aviation links and a sharp rise in Gulf tourism to Georgia’s mountains and cities, a trend tracked in Georgia’s tourism statistics published by [Geostat](https://www.geostat.ge/en). Coverage in regional media, including [Agenda.ge](https://agenda.ge) and [Georgia Today](https://georgiatoday.ge), has periodically reported on new direct flight announcements and investment interest from Gulf visitors in Georgian hospitality and real estate, a pattern worth watching rather than treating as fixed, since routes and investment flows shift from year to year.

### Health, insurance and safety

Georgia does not require proof of travel insurance for visa-free entry, but it is strongly advisable given that public healthcare access for foreign visitors is limited and private treatment costs are paid upfront in most cases. Pharmacies are widely available and well-stocked, and altitude-related discomfort is possible for visitors spending time quickly at height in Gudauri, Kazbegi or Bakuriani; anyone with heart, lung or chronic conditions should consult a doctor before high-altitude travel. For current health advisories, consult the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, and for consular matters or emergencies, contact your own country’s diplomatic representation, since Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic coverage for Georgia has changed in recent years and we cannot confirm a current resident address or phone number in Tbilisi with certainty; verify directly with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs or with Georgia’s own Ministry of Foreign Affairs before travel.

Georgia is generally regarded as a safe destination for Gulf travellers, including solo women and families, with low rates of violent crime in tourist areas. Standard precautions apply in crowded markets and on mountain roads in winter. Alcohol is widely available and part of Georgian hospitality culture; travellers who prefer to avoid it should say so clearly, as declining a toast is accepted without offence in most settings, though hosts may initially encourage participation.
